Transition Town Workshops on the Sunshine Coast
Empower yourself!
Transition Sunshine Coast offers regular courses, workshops and networking events on the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland and we are available to deliver workshops anywhere in Australia. Our education program, Pathways to Resilience, offers participants the chance to learn about and 'do' transition work with others. Sunshine Coast courses are mostly held on weekends.
We are also available for presentations, conferences and speaking engagements in your community or to your local council.
We are continually updating and adding to our programs – our aim is the meet the needs of the community – to support new start-up initiatives, but to also ensure that those who are further along their pathway to resilience are being catered for.
We can also travel to you. We have facilitated workshops in South East Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. We can tailor a workshop just for you, bringing out the unique qualities of your community and how they fit in the Transition model.
Our courses are designed by educational experts with many years experience working with community groups and in education systems. They are designed to suit the unique Australian perspective of Transitioning.

An adventure in Creative Facilitation, Interactive Learning Methods, Personal Empowerment and Skills Development.
A four-day training intensive usually offered for facilitators, teachers, trainers, groups leaders, change agents and people in creative, healing and sustainability industries who would like more skills, tools and confidence to work and play with groups.

This course is a unique opportunity to work with Robin Clayfield of Earthcare Education in an open, creative and stimulating atmosphere. The aim of this course is to up-skill anyone involved in the areas of education and group work from established teachers, people conducting introductory workshops or guest speaker spots to anyone wanting to start teaching or working more creatively in groups. Australia's very first energy descent action planning course
Ladies and gentlemen - stop your engines! It's Time for an Oil Change!
The Time for an Oil Change course addresses the issues of peak oil and climate change. Students develop practical and positive ways for individual households, communities and the entire region to prepare for a future with less oil and one where we all use less energy. These solutions form the Sunshine Coast Energy Descent Action Plan.
Co-created by Sunshine Coast permaculturists, Sonya Wallace and Janet Millington the course applies sustainability principles to the areas of our lives that are currently being affected by climate change and peak oil.
The trial course started in July 2007 with students from a wide range of backgrounds and professional experience and finished on October 20. They are working on developing projects and solutions that will become the first installment of the first Sunshine Coast Energy Descent Action Plan, which is currently being written and will be launched very soon!
Each week students looked at oil and energy dependant areas of our lives such as: food production and distribution, waste water and energy use, infrastructure and transportation, the built environment, health systems, communication, education & re-skilling, employment, economics, community governance, and finally and most importantly, attitudinal changes.
Further courses will be run and those participants will add their projects and findings to the existing plan. Details of upcoming courses will be posted on this site.
The course ran every Saturday at the Sunshine Coast Energy Action Centre (now Transition Sunshine Coast) over twelve weeks.
Be part of the solution and take advantage of this unique opportunity to make a very real difference in the future of your region.
